Man o man, where the hell has the summer gone?  It's certainly not over but as the last few remaining months start to dwindle like a carrot zooming down a horse track teasing the ever so graceful "taza de mantequilla" (buttercup the thoroughbread), it's clear that we haven't got much time.  Lucky for you, you came to the right place and are about to receive a prescription for just what the doctor ordered; a huge bag of fun, sun, and happiness in the form of a time machine that doesn't actually have time, it freezes it and thus creates The Endless Summer!

Longer Nites & Frothy Bites - July Mixtape

Hey friends,

if there's anything I can say about this Summer so far, it's that it has yet again managed to amaze me in ways I once thought of as impossible.  From a dream Fiji trip to epicly bangin' pool parties,  great surf in Jalama, classic times with friends, and countless wonderful memories; it's safe to say that Music has played an essential role in capturing, retaining, and eventually eliciting these awesome memories.  With so many great tunes droppin' this summer and so many talented emerging artists making waves, I thought it's about time I share the wealth and bring you all a new mix!

My last 2 mixes have been more suited for those beach party/pool froth days where mumus, mojitos, and myrtles run wild like gazelles in the San Diego zoo.  Today, I bring you a mix more suited for those wild nights where you tell your buddy: "Fine, I'll have one beer with you mate, just one" and before you know it, you're takin' shots of wild turkey out of a soggy shoe at the West End/Saloon/Jumbo's Clown Room/Adelita's etc...  Consider this mixtape a tank full of fuel to pump into your El Camino strapped with boards in the back, babe in the front, hands on the wheel, and destination set to 1987.  Dedicated to those long summer nites filled with fun, froth, and friends,  I hope this mix finds you well and that you share the wealth!  Without further adieu, I present to you "Longer Nites & Frothy Bites - July Mixtape" by Surf Ambassador Hendo:

City of Groove - Casting Call

- CALLING ALL MYRTLES - There's a Nu cocktail in town and it's about to start making waves in the Whale's Vagina!  Take one part Geisha Twins, one part French Kiss Collective, a dash of disco sauce, a squirt of some groovy basslines, mix it all up, and what do you get?  A brand Nu project from 2 funky monkeys: Zac Bolick (Geisha Twins) and Wayatt Potts (French Kiss Collevtive) called City of Groove!   Coming soon to a froth venue near you, these dudes will be making some rad chunes and will be looking for some lovely ladies to participate in an upcoming video shoot.   So if you wanna froth around in the sand, have a few piña coladas, eat some exquisite caviar, and be featured in their upcoming video, shoot an email over to: cityofgroove@gmail.com !

Lowers Raid 2012

Although football season is over (I think?), last Friday the Raiders came to Lower Trestles and straight up owned fools!  Last year on Friday the 13th a bunch of fools dressed up and took over Lowers with kook sleds and epic costumes.  This year, the mob grew bigger and the waves were way better.  Check out the following vids below as the Raiders take over Lowers and piss the fuck out of people!  Don't be mad, es all fun...

Poolside - Pacific Standard Time (Album)

Hello bradas and sistas!  

This last Monday marked the release of our favorite Tropical Disco innovators' debut album!  That's right, Poolside!  Having not heard a lot of slower more tropical disco jams until last summer and the release of their legendary track entitled "Do You Believe?", it seems evident that these types of clean/smooth/slower jams suited for chilling at the beach or poolside have been sweeping the southern California shores and the No Shirt / No Shoes decks in particular!  But the Poolside fellas didn't stop there, instead, they continued to pump out baby making jams like their rendition on Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" and the ever-so-croozy "Take Me Home".  Ontop of these boss jamz, the Poolside mates headed into the studio not only to record their full upcoming album but to also practice their live set which would utilize something rarely found in today's electronic music scene... all real instruments being played by all real humans!

My good mate, the Tropical Rebel that goes by the name of sir Tropicool is back at it with another frothy ass mixtape!  This time he's done his magic for the guys over at Solé bicycles and has kicked off what they like to call their "Fixtape Series".  Filled with beachy vibes, croozy chunes, and tropical monsoons, you should already know by now that when you hear the name Tropicool that this shits gonna be epic!  Give it a listen, download it here, and blast it around like projectile diarrhea! 

Rhye - Open (NSFW)

The mate Brandon over at the phenomenal music blog called The Burning Ear just recently released his Best Songs of 2012 - Part 1 (Jan - June)!  Chalk filled with some of the best indie and other tracks as of yet, I was immediately drawn to the number one spot and instantly got hooked.  Sitting at number one on his list is Rhye's track entitled "Open".  Not only is this smooth ass track super catchy and feel-good, the video is filled to the brim with T & A and all sorts of weirdos getting...weird!

No Shirt / No Shoes - FROTH of JULY - This Saturday!

This Saturday, July 7th Two Thousand and Twelve we're back on da Roof of The Standard Hotel DTLA!  Since my radical sabbatical in Fiji, I've wiped away the cobwebs and am ready for some heavy froth action.  This time up we've got a few Canadian Legends in the mix from the likes of Jeremy Glenn and Prince Club!  You may remember Jeremy's smashing original by the name of New Life, if not here's a reminder:    Then we've got Prince Club comin' up on the decks whose got a song named Fruit Boots which off the bat already makes him supa roots (see my ElectroHell Vid for more about Fruit Boots)To top it all off we've got Lordz by the likes of Kedd Cook (La Cave Resident), Rick Rude, and the loc dawgs that go by: Bixel Boys, Tropicool, SAH-Dis-Dick, and Junkyard!  If you were anything like me and were over partying on a gloomy ass Wednesday with a bunch of amateurs for the 4th, then this shall be everything you had hoped for and More for a reason to let yo hair down and get completely buck!
